Josué has worked almost his entire life within the nonprofit sector, enjoys hiking, walking, and biking around the neighborhood. He's an avid reader, and he enjoys spending time with his two children.
Jose Garcia Clavel

Jose was born in Mexico and raised in Oakland and is a proud first-generation college graduate.
Jose likes to spend time with his family, catching up with friends, working out at any local gym and trying new places to eat.
Maria de los Angeles “Gelo” Caloca Rivas
Educational Programs Manager
Gelo studied to be a teacher at the teacher training college in Tepic. She loves to serve the Latino community, both children and adults! She enjoys reading, knitting, going to the beach, and spending time with her husband, four sons, and grandson.

Program Assistant & Event Coordinator
Juan Carlos enjoys helping the community and sharing moments of joy with the people we serve at MI. He enjoys watching movies with his family, gardening, and hosting family gatherings.
Daniela Gonzalez-Perez
Engagement Director
Daniela is a Bay Area native and the proud daughter of immigrant parents. Daniela enjoys spending quality time with her family, listening to Selena, banda and norteño music, and watching low-budget action movies.
Rodolfo “Rudy” Lara
Richmond Senior Program Director
Rudy is very passionate about helping his community in any way that he can. He understands the struggles that immigrants go through as an immigrant himself. His favorite hobby is to take a walk along the beach and in the forest.
Gloria Villasenor Rangel
Mujeres en Acción
Gloria, the co-founder of MI’s Mujeres en Acción (Women in Action) group, is passionate about serving and fighting against injustice. She loves supporting her community, and spending time with her family, traveling, attending soccer games, and sharing meals together.
Jahir Lopez
TITLE
Jahir is passionate about community work and finds purpose in supporting others with compassion, care, and gratitude. In his free time, Jahir enjoys connecting with nature through meditation, hiking, picnicking, and staying active at the gym.
Joshua Jardinero
Berkeley Program Assistant
Joshua is a current student at UC BerkeleyBeing raised by a single mother as a first-generation Bay Area native taught Joshua that community drives upward social mobility. In his free time,he enjoys cooking at home, trying new restaurants, and going on hikes.
Breanna Banda
TITLE
Breanna is from a small farming town in the Central Valley called Orosi. Currently attending UC Berkeley, she plans to become an immigration lawyer one day. Her biggest passion is helping people, and working at MI has given her an incredible opportunity to help and support the Latinx community.
Kimberly Castro
TITLE
Kimberly is from Santa Ana, California, and is a first-generation daughter of Oaxaqueño immigrants, currently attending UC Berkeley, and loves exploring the Bay Area, visiting coffee shops, and reading, with favorites including Mixtec Transformation and Children of Solaga: Indigenous Belongings.
